How to pay for an ESTA application

The ESTA travel authorization process takes place entirely online. The procedure involves payment of a processing fee to validate the request and initiate computer processing. Here’s what you need to know about ESTA payment.

Is there an ESTA fee?

There is a fee for ESTA travel authorization. It is not possible to obtain a free ESTA. The ESTA fee covers processing costs and the cost of developing tourism in the USA.

When to pay?

When applying for ESTA online, the applicant reaches the fee payment page in the final step of the process. The application cannot be finalized without payment of the fee on the official ESTA website.

The file is kept for up to 7 days without payment. The payment deadline is indicated on the payment page. The request will only be processed once payment has been confirmed.

How do I pay?

Payment of ESTA fees is by credit card only. The following card types are accepted for online payment: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Diner’s Club, Maestro or JCB.
